who do you compare yourself to in secret?
there's usually someone. not someone you'd name out loud, but someone whose life or progress you hold up next to yours when no one is looking.
every day there's one live question, the same for everyone. answer it anonymously, see what other people said. it's all gone in seven days.
answer today's question →write the name down. or if it's more than one person, write them all. beside each name, write what specifically you compare. is it their career, their ease, their relationship, their body, their confidence. then look at what you're telling yourself about you in that comparison. write that part down too, the story underneath. try to notice whether you're comparing your full, messy reality to their surface. write about what you actually know versus what you've invented about their life. be honest about how often this comparison visits you.
- write about the specific thing you believe this person has that you don't.
- describe the feeling that arrives right after you check on their life online.
- write about what you were looking for in yourself before this comparison took root.
this is for anyone who knows the comparison is unfair but can't seem to stop making it. especially if you feel ashamed of doing it at all.
