what would change if you assumed you were allowed?

sometimes the barrier is not ability, or timing, or resources. it is a quiet, persistent feeling that you are not supposed to want what you want.

every day there's one live question, the same for everyone. answer it anonymously, see what other people said. it's all gone in seven days.

answer today's question

write the sentence, i am allowed to, and then finish it. do it several times. let some of them be big and some small. i am allowed to rest. i am allowed to want more. i am allowed to change my mind. notice which ones make your chest tighten. those are the ones to stay with. pick one and write about where the feeling of not being allowed comes from. was it something someone said. something you absorbed from your family or your environment. write about what your life would look like if that permission were simply granted, today, no conditions.

  • write about something you want that you have been treating as off limits.
  • think about whose voice you hear when you feel like you are not allowed.
  • consider one small thing you could do tomorrow as if you had permission.

this is for anyone who keeps hesitating, not because they can't, but because something deep down keeps saying they shouldn't. especially if you are not sure where that feeling started.
