what's stopped working that you haven't admitted yet?

you can feel when something has stopped working. a habit, a relationship, a coping strategy. the knowing arrives long before the admission does.

every day there's one live question, the same for everyone. answer it anonymously, see what other people said. it's all gone in seven days.

answer today's question

write the sentence: "the thing that has stopped working is..." and finish it before you can talk yourself out of it. then stay with it. write about when you first noticed it wasn't working anymore. what did you do instead of admitting it? did you try harder, pretend, or just look away? be specific. write about what it would cost to say this out loud. then write about what it is costing you to keep not saying it. you don't need a plan yet. you just need to let the words exist on the page.

  • write about a routine or strategy you keep doing even though it stopped helping months ago.
  • think about a relationship where you are performing connection more than feeling it.
  • consider a belief about yourself that you keep defending even though it no longer fits.

this is for anyone who already knows the answer but hasn't said it yet. for people carrying the weight of something they keep pretending still holds.
