what would you tell them if tonight was the night to say it?

you already know who came to mind. and you probably already know what you would say. this is just a place to finally let it sit outside of you.

every day there's one live question, the same for everyone. answer it anonymously, see what other people said. it's all gone in seven days.

answer today's question

write their name at the top of the page. then write to them, not about them. say the thing directly. you don't have to send it. you don't have to be fair or measured. just let it come out the way it actually lives inside you. it might be an apology. it might be anger. it might be something so simple it almost seems too small to say. after you have written it, read it back slowly. notice what it feels like to see those words in your own handwriting. that is the thing you have been holding.

  • write the version you would say if you knew they could hear it without reacting.
  • try writing just one sentence, the truest one, and stop there.
  • think about what has stopped you saying it, and whether that reason is still real.

this is for anyone with someone on their mind and words stuck in their chest. especially if you have rehearsed it a hundred times and still never said it.
