what would you say to everyone here tonight, carrying their own?

there's something strange and steadying about knowing other people are sitting with hard things too. not to compare, just to feel less alone in it.

every day there's one live question, the same for everyone. answer it anonymously, see what other people said. it's all gone in seven days.

answer today's question

imagine a room full of people you'll never meet, each one carrying something they haven't fully said. write what you'd want to say to them. not a speech, not a pep talk. just the truest thing you know about carrying something heavy. write it directly, as if you're speaking to one person in that room. then turn it around. write what you'd want someone in that room to say back to you. notice if they're the same thing. sometimes what we most want to offer is what we most need to hear.

  • write the one sentence you'd want a stranger to hear if they were at their lowest tonight.
  • describe what it feels like to know that other people are carrying things you can't see.
  • write about a time someone said something small that made you feel less alone.

this is for anyone who feels alone in what they're carrying, and for anyone who has learned something from that weight they'd want to pass on.
