who would you tell "i made it" if you could?

some people shaped you and then left, or were taken, or drifted beyond reach. and now you're here, and they're not. and you want them to know.

every day there's one live question, the same for everyone. answer it anonymously, see what other people said. it's all gone in seven days.

answer today's question

write their name. then write what you'd want to tell them. not just "i made it" but what that means. what did you make it through, and where are you now. tell them what they'd recognise about you and what would surprise them. write about what they gave you that helped, even if they didn't know they were giving it. let yourself say the things you'd say if you had five minutes with them, no awkwardness, no rush. then sit with the fact that saying it here, on paper, still counts for something. the words don't need to reach them to be real.

  • write about what this person believed about you that you weren't sure was true at the time.
  • describe what they'd say if they could see your life right now.
  • write the version of "i made it" that is most honest, including the parts that are still unfinished.

this is for anyone carrying an update they can't deliver. for people who wish someone gone could see what they've become.
