who do you wish would call you?

you know the feeling. your phone is right there and you keep not picking it up, because what you actually want is for it to ring. for one specific person to choose to find you.

every day there's one live question, the same for everyone. answer it anonymously, see what other people said. it's all gone in seven days.

answer today's question

write the name of the person you wish would call. then write about what you imagine you'd say if they did. not the polite version, the real one. what would the first thirty seconds sound like. what would you need to hear from them. then ask yourself, on the page, why you haven't called them yourself. write that answer slowly. sometimes the reason is pride, sometimes it's grief, sometimes it's a boundary you set that still costs you. whatever it is, write it down without making yourself wrong for it.

  • write the opening line of the conversation you keep imagining but never have.
  • think about what their calling would prove to you, and write about what that need is really about.
  • write about the last time you almost reached out and what stopped you.

this is for you if you've been waiting for someone to come towards you. if the silence between you and them has started to feel like its own kind of answer.
